My configuration is Cisco 7961 <--> Asterisk <--> 2811 <--> Level3 (using SIP all the way).
My main issue is that when I specify NAT=no and Public IP in the Asterisk SIP Settings on FreePBX, the calls complete fine except that the internal IP address is visible in the FROM: tag. If I change to NAT=yes and Static IP in the settings, then the FROM: in the INVITE is formatted correctly but there is no audio and the call will automatically drop about 10sec after connection.
The additional problem is that internal calls, which shouldn't even touch the 2811, follow the same no audio behavior.
I have googled and searched so much that I am completely confused and am not sure if the issue is in the Asterisk, 2811, or both. I can provide any config info requested.
2811 - Version 12.4(15)T12
Asterisk - 1.8.11
freePBX - 2.10.1.2
Thank you for any guidance and help in advance,
Jack
It is a network misconfiguration, you need to more fully explain where "everything is" and on what network all your devices are network wise to get a better read here.
Did you configure your localnet in SIP settings.
How do the remote phones get to Asterisk (VPN?) that address needs to be defined as a localnet also.

Thanks! I fixed a type I had on the localnet and now have good internal phone calls. External calls have a 1-way audio issue. But this is progress. I will add another post if I cannot get this resolved.
Thank you again
I had the same issue, server and softphones were on the same subnet, no workstation firewalls etc... The problem I found was not an issue with the network but with the version of softphone I had installed. I was using Zoiper for Mac and iPhone/iPod. Once I installed Xlite everything worked fine.
Just my 2¢
